Another form of Mass Formation Psychosis?
It’s not either/or. I say this all the time. My mom says: “Do you ever go to the doctor?” With a bit of alarm in her voice because she is legit concerned about my health. My response: Only if I feel it necessary for me or my Family. I dictate our care, not a doctor. THAT is the difference and that power has been taken from people. It’s clear. The power to be empowered with those decisions. People don’t think they have choices, which I find yet another way in which we are dependent upon systems that no longer serve us, but their stake holders. All of these systems are created upon a premise of profit and in regards to healthcare, it’s an unforgiving and cruel way to proffer health. This is what herbalism and traditional approaches to health offer: empowerment. Authoritarian approaches to health are a ‘no go’ for me. (the circle rather than the pyramid)
The idea is to stay out of the system as much as possible. Why? Well, for one by some estimates, THE leading cause of death is our current modern medicine model. A FOR PROFIT model. Many years ago, I saw myself going down the road that I consider a slippery slope of modern medicine. The ‘gateway’ for me was birth control. It’s a common story. The IUD was causing problems, but the doctors wanted to give me other medication for this problem. I had the IUD removed. No more problem. Further back, I was a sickly kind of kid. Asthma, allergies, recurrent strep infections. I was a ‘carrier’, whatever that is, but in my mind, my immune system couldn’t clear it completely and I ended up giving it to my brother all the time. Antibiotics killed my gut and made all the allergic systems worse. More medication, more reduced immune function, more issues. It’s sick care, not health care. No one talked to me about triggers. No one said anything about WHY histamine reactions were common-place for me. No one talked about gut health, TH2 skew, and stomach acid. It wasn’t until I got older, learned how to eat and found herbs did my health turn around. No more slight anemia, no more allergies (almost) and my gut is MUCH better. No more stomach aches after eating and BMs daily! Whaaahooo! You never know how sick you are until you feel better.
I got Lyme in 2008 and again, I could see this slippery slope appearing before me. No one could figure out what was wrong, but they all had a medication to give me, some of which (steroids) made thing MUCH worse, but no one had a solution as to why I felt horrible, and not one (ER Doc (antibiotics for a ‘infection’, and steroids) my PCP, my dentist (antibiotics for TMJ) thought Lyme. (see prior Substack)
So I am clearly divulging all this to make the point that doctors are not trained in how to stay healthy or to address the root cause of dis-ease. They treat symptoms and use petro-chemical derived medicines to do that. Medicines that cause dysfunction themselves. Did you know that medication will make you nutritionally deficient? All medications do that. They also reduce liver function and cause side-effects, some very dangerous ones. In order to understand the doctors point of view, its really important to understand what they are trained in, which isn’t how each system works together and assessment of these systems to see patterns to find the root cause. They are trained to find a medicine for a diagnosis. They are limited by this training as well as by their lack of nutritional knowledge and basic understand of how body systems work best, for example: the gut microbiome and how to keep it healthy, which in turn makes for a healthy mind-set, balanced hormone production, and helps the body create needed nutrients for all body systems. they are also inundated by pharma journals constantly. These journals I consider propaganda from the industry to sell drugs. Never mind the conflicts of interest between docs and pharma. It’s a mess.
The testing for these medications is lacking too, which is evident in the many pay-outs from pharma to citizens for harm as well as getting caught ‘cooking the books’ so to say: fraudulent science. Vioxx is a perfect example, but by no means the only. A laundry list of examples exists. Long-term science on mood modulators is lacking too and these drugs are being marketed to children, of which NO SCIENCE exists on the long-term safety or efficacy. Giving a mood modulator to a developing brain…? When did this start? Sometimes around the Columbine shooting? How many shooters are on these drugs??? The industry is borderline criminal (and outright in many cases) but people seem to think that all drugs undergo strict testing including vaccines, and all is well. Just trust your doctor. Those days are over. The COVID vaccines are a perfect example. If any doctor tells you it’s safe, they are lying. They just are…..why? BC the safety studies DO NOT EXIST and this top-down model of healthcare is much like the military. They get their orders and most do not stray away from that. Pharma is responsible for much the science and our agencies are captured by them. $$.
I say all this because of recent conversations with family, I see just how pervasive authoritarianism is in modern medicine. It seems some think traditional and alternative/more natural approaches have no basis in science, but on the contrary, this is exactly where the science is; not paid for by pharma, but paid for by people who want to actually know the therapeutic affects of a certain plant or intervention. Herbal medicine and other natural approaches are not only backed by peer-reviewed science, but we have literally THOUSANDS of years of experiential knowledge that has been passed down. Trouble is, most do not do their own digging and form opinions based upon other’s opinions, not source material like science. That is authoritarianism. It’s a serious problem IMO and another example of how critical thinking isn’t employed in some people’s decision-making.
Here is a statement made by former Marcia Angell M. D., is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She stepped down as Editor-in-Chief of the New England Journal of Medicine on June 30, 2000. A graduate of Boston University School of Medicine, she trained in both internal medicine and anatomic pathology and is a board-certified pathologist. She joined the editorial staff of the New England Journal of Medicine in 1979, became Executive Editor in 1988, and Editor-in-Chief in 1999. Here is a link to her books she writes about the state of medicine today, and it’s not good.
So, I guess in my 15 or so years of delving deep into the science of herbalism, the folklore too, while also reading the science coming out of CDC and pharma, it’s clear that modern medicine is not sustainable and in many ways creates customers instead of promoting true health. These covid injections are a pure example of greed, corruption, the fear surrounding health in our society, and how they outright lie to sell drugs and vaccines to the masses and in the wake, create more customers and more ill-health. Remember ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’. Not good for the profit model.

My favorite:
“It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of the New England Journal of Medicine.”
― Marcia Angell
And by the way, I never "go to the doctor."
