Many of us realize this issue. It’s in your face daily when you are paying attention. I recently talked to a NICU nurse here in NH, and what she is seeing post-covid is unprecedented. Two weeks ago she saw in her hospital 6 fetal demises. NEVER had she seen this before in her many hers of working as a nurse in the NICU. It’s not only death. Congenital deformities are on the rise too, like too many digits, born with no limbs….. With the push for the HPV vaccine in our children, the trans-gender agenda to push kids to mutilate their body’s or become asexual and other overt ways correlated with decreased fertility and population, is it nature or nurture? Can we really say Gaia is trying to control the population or is it a select few playing God, like in recent years Yuval Harari of the World Economic Forum hacking the genetic code of the human playing God, or back further in our history, Francis Galton (among others), cousin of Charles Darwin, that literally spoke out against the lower classes procreating and part of a large group of people during the early 1900’s creating the Eugenics Record Office (started by the Rockefeller Foundation)and openly calling for the reduction of the population. Then Margaret Sanger and her Sanger Birth Control Clinic. Think what you want about abortion, Planned Parenthood was BORN amidst the eugenics movement. A highly racist and divisive movement that put people in classes and placed upon them definitions they did not deserve. You think these people went away? Not. Clearly something is happening with fertility.
I also think people in general are having fewer children, of course, but fertility itself is decreasing and it’s getting harder for some couples to conceive.
The following graph illustrates the fertility issues we face in the US. We could make a laundry list of the reasons fertility has declined, Vaccines like DTP, DTaP, HPV, and the COVID mRNA genetic therapies, stress, environmental toxins like glyphosate, and xenoestrogens, the push to castrate boys, give women penises, give them all Lupron (puberty blocker) so they have no sex drive…..and an exhaustive and exhausting list.
I’m not writing this to give you doom and gloom. I’m writing this to give you strategies and hope. I have helped many with fertility issues, and herbs, supplements, and diet all help to improve the situation and it doesn’t necessarily take expensive “infertility’ treatments that subject (mostly women) to high amounts of synthetic hormones and increase their risk of cancer.
This is a partial list of the many herbs I employ in my practice to help balance out hormones and greatly increase fertility, (I much rather say fertility issues than infertility….words are powerful).
Basic areas to concentrate on when trying to conceive: Stress reduction, dietary choices (I like modified keto), gut health, and hormone balance including increasing sperm count and motility. We can’t forget men have a job too. :).
I like to formulate with some of these herbs, in tea or extract, and pick and choose the herbs I think are good for that person specifically. The beauty of herbal medicine is we can choose the herbs that best suit a person’s constitution, energy, and issues.
Herbs to Use
Partridgeberry: (Mitchella repens)used by the Native Americans to tone the uterus and prevent miscarriage.
Wild Yam: (Dioscorea villosa)I use for PCOS and menopause. Helps balance hormones and has an added benefit of reduces inflammation in the joints!
Nettles: (Urtica dioica) high in minerals, nutritive to the endocrine & nervous systems.
Smilax (Jamaican/Mexican Sarsaparilla): liver support to process toxins and hormones.
Raspberry leaf: (Rubus idaeus) a uterine tonic. Reduces bleeding time, strengthens uterus for birthing. Wrings out a boggy uterus.
Chaste tree berry (Vitex): used to balance progesterone against estrogen. A spicy little seed.
Wild Sarsaparilla: (Aralia nuducaulis)liver support similar to Smilax but with an added endocrine balancing component.
Alfalfa: (Medicago sativa) high in minerals, hormone balancing.
Lemon balm: (Melissa officinalis) thyroid supportive, calming to the body and digestive system.
White peony (Paeonia lactiflora/ hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens) block androgen production/block testosterone - for women with PCOS, hirsutism, Cushing’s syndrome (high cortisol in blood) or other pituitary disorders.
Positive Lifestyle Changes
Sometimes all it takes are a few simple changes that can greatly increase your chances to conceive. When one client was trying to get pregnant, I suggested she change a few things in her diet.....reduce processed foods, foods with high carb content, like pasta, no high fructose corn syrup or hydrogenated oils and increase veggies and fruits. She was pregnant in a month and a half. I think a lot of this was taking her mind of ‘getting pregnant’ and focusing on diet….deflection works! That was an easy one, but my point is to start out simple and only get complicated if the need arises. Another client was a much more complicated case, having progesterone issues in the luteal phase of her cycle. I have many other case studies of individuals each with their own unique set of challenges to overcome, some of which was emotional. This is where Reiki comes in, but that’s for another post.
Some ways to increase your chances of conceiving as a couple would be:
*decrease stress, (adaptogen herbs to help: eleuthero root, milky oats, schisandra berries, holy basil, ashwaganda).
*eat whole foods, low sugar, juicing for antioxidants for both men and women, (juicing is a great way to do this. Add in a greens powder to be added to a morning smoothie made with plain yogurt, fresh blueberries, a banana, and whatever else you have on hand. The Greens powder can contain things like wheatgrass, barley grass, watercress, chlorella….all are nutrient dense, supply the body with a good amount of minerals & vitamins.
*for men hot/cold therapy on testes to increase blood-flow which will increase sperm count,
*herbal therapy including herbs above,
*See your local herbalist for a detailed protocol geared explicitly for you and/or your partners issues.
*gentle detox
*increase immune strength with herbs and food. No immune stimulants for women if they are trying to conceive. Dump the mushroom blends, echinacea, astragalus, especially in early phases. Use supporting herbs like nettles, lemon balm, rehmannia root, and others listed above.
*supplements: vitamin E, vitamin C (whole food), folate, Vit D (by sunlight if possible).
This is certainly not an exhaustive list and everyone needs to be mindful of contraindications with plants in regards to their body’s as well as any medications they may be taking. I implore people to work with an herbalist when using herbs, and not trying to self medicate. Herbs are powerful and with more and more people aware of herbal medicine, it’s good to work with someone who understands the plants and potential interactions.
